1. NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
Stonewash jeans, funky headwear and the freshest white sneakers: New Kids on the Block were the epitome of early 1990s hip streetwear. So much so, they inspired a collection of dress-up dolls that are now collector’s items on eBay!

2. ONE DIRECTION
The fresh-faced One Direction boys are known for being heartthrobs but the teen idols earn style points too for their high street chic – reflecting each one’s personality, of course.

3. MENUDO
With over 30 members and millions of sales over the years, Menudo may be Puerto Rico’s hottest export. In this 1980s lineup featuring Ricky Martin, sporty jackets and matching neons were clearly de rigueur.

4. WESTLIFE
Often in matching monochrome outfits, Irish chart-toppers Westlife embodied the early noughties style for long coats, bootcut jeans and all-white ensembles, and managed to keep a straight face throughout

5. ‘N SYNC
‘N Sync spent their time in the s_ight experimenting with fabrics, facial hair and a lot of leather. They went from high school bad boys to flamboyant megastars in cowboy hats, faux fur – and sometimes both at the same time.

6. JACKSON 5
The Jackson 5 racked up smash hits while traipsing through trends, most famously coordinating flower power and bellbottoms during their reign in the 1970s, and setting the sartorial tone for all boy bands to follow.

7. BACKSTREET BOYS
Over their career they managed to wear a lot of peculiar and often oversized outfits, including leather overalls on stage (a career lowlight perhaps). But Backstreet Boys are now the definitive in boy band style

8. BIG BANG
Awarded MTV’s Best Worldwide Act in 2011, Big Bang has – ahem! – exploded onto the fashion scene. G-Dragon and Taeyang in particular turn heads in extreme hairstyles and complete looks from the likes of Saint Laurent.

9. VILLAGE PEOPLE
1970s disco stars Village People played with cultural stereotypes in their onstage get-ups, making them an ideal choice for fancy dress parties even today. Handlebar moustaches a must

10. TAKE THAT

From their 1990s origins to their comeback in 2005, Take That evolved from awkward teens in baggy gear and bare chests to grown men in suits – with only a few denim dungaree hiccups along the way.
