Pann: The incident of Lee Jihye and Seo Jiyoung
(For your information, Lee Jihye is the lady on the right. She used to host We Got Married.)
This is a very brief summary of the incident so the little insights (ripping skirts, swearing on a chat, beating up a new member and making her disappear, etc) are omitted.
The legendary bullying incident of S#arp which kids don't know these days.
In 1998... Seo Jiyoung's family spent a load of money and created the most unfortunate co-ed group called S#arp. (Seo Jiyoung's family was the most powerful family in the entertainment industry)
Their debut album was composed by Roo'Ra's Lee Sangmin. He was famous for composing songs with extremely high notes.
Of course, their songs had high notes, so the company put Lee Jihye as the main vocal because she was a great singer. Because of that, Seo Jiyoung was jealous of her. Until the group disbanded, Seo Jiyoung bullied, threatened and fought Lee Jihye. (Lee Jihye got into the group by auditioning with a chance of 1000:1. Seo Jiyoung had originally planned to put her friends in the group. But Lee Jihye got into the group as the main vocal so Seo Jiyoung was afraid that things wouldn't work out in her way.)
Lee Jihye kept getting bullied throughout. At that time, Seo Jiyoung was in a relationship with Ryu Shiwon and he also joined the bullying. He slapped Lee Jihye and threatened her. Even Seo Jiyoung's mother went to her and grabbed by her hair. There's this famous story of the mother calling Lee Jihye "slutty bitch". It still pops up as a related search...
Just like this, Lee Jihye got bullied for years and Seo Jiyoung told the company to kick out Lee Jihye, but the company refused because the group was too popular at that time. So Seo Jiyoung kept bullying her. It got too serious so they held a press conference and disbanded.
The incident that finally led to their disbandment was this - On October 8, 2002, they finished their KBS radio schedule and were on their way to home... and Seo Jiyoung said, "I hate you XXX" and swore at her. Lee Jihye got mad and pushed her. The next day, Seo Jiyoung's mother came to Lee Jihye and beat her up. (Oct 9). Also, Seo Jiyoung's father cancelled S#arp's schedules because "his daughter was beaten up by Lee Jihye" (Oct 10).
Journalists then started to question what was going on, and their press conference for disbanding was scheduled.
When they decided to disband, Seo Jiyoung paid the manager and asked him to lie for her sake.
But the manager, who knew everything, was very upset at the press conference. He told all the truth. Seo Jiyoung got hated and it was all over.
Their press conference video is said to be the most dramatic video ever in the entertainment industry.
After years, Lee Jihye and Seo Jiyoung met again on Intimate Note. Lee Jihye tried to befriend with Seo Jiyoung but Seo Jiyoung pretended like she was the victim. To this day, she still pretends to be the victim.
After a while, Seo Jiyoung decided to clean her image and officially said she's now friends with Lee Jihye and acted all fake.
Lee Jihye's solo "Love me Love me" hit big. She promoted too hard with it and got hospitalized due to her tough schedule. Seo Jiyoung visited her hospital with chrysanthemum (flowers for dead people).... and her bullying was the end.
Currently, Seo Jiyoung is married to a rich guy and is living a happy life, and Lee Jihye doesn't have the money to release albums so she's guesting on low-level shows and is wasting her talent..
