Pann: Broadcast official reveals a simple reason why sitcoms are no longer produced

1. [+220, -9] When I watch old sitcoms, I do miss them but there are a lot of settings that will freak people out in the present day. Sitcoms were possible back then because it was in the old times. At that time, I didn't think the settings were weird but now, things like Shinji going through a fraud marriage and Seo Min Jung having a crush on her friend's ex-husband will be considered too dark to be funny.

2. [+218, -14] These days, there are so many people who find everything uncomfortable. They will find the jokes in sitcoms uncomfortable and make it controversial every time.

3. [+108, -2] I feel bitter

4. [+56, -0] Because belittling others by their weight/race/job stopped being funny. The same reason why gag shows aren't popular anymore.

5. [+41, -0] I think people will call me oversensitive but since I was young, I found a lot of things in Gag Concert and sitcoms uncomfortable. There were a lot of gags and settings that would be controversial in present day.

6. [+39, -1] The young audience moved onto Youtube and Netflix. Only old people watch the TV.

7. [+29, -0] I think it's more like sitcoms are flopping because they're just not funny anymore. After High Kick, I watched a lot of sitcoms but the stories were boring. There isn't a unique character, either. People still watch American sitcoms on Netflix because they're fun.

8. [+27, -0] From now on, the shows that are meant to be funny will disappear even more. People will find every single thing uncomfortable, so any kind of topic won't escape from discomfort. Even if there's a scene of raining, people will complain that the scene didn't consider the struggle that people have to go through in the rain and will demand the show to be cancelled. If there's a scene of leaves falling, the Environment Protection Association will file a complaint. It's already being done. In High Kick, Haeri's line of "fart" got a warning from the board because it was considered rude.
